Signagelive and IAdea have collaborated to develop a next-generation, small form factor media player that deliver 4K capabilities.
The global supplier of a cloud-based digital signage technology platform and its long-term vendor partner launched the media player at ISE in Amsterdam earlier this year. The first of its kind media player (branded as the Armoroid 4K” XMP-7300 player) has been specifically designed to make 4K content available for commercial usage such as retail at an affordable price-point.
The Armoroid 4K XMP-7300 player, powered by Signagelive’s cloud-based SoC and HTML5 software, can be used to connect 4K displays, regardless of size, orientation or type, over LAN to deliver dynamic 4K content that, until now, has only been possible on high-spec Windows PCs.
The new Armoroid 4K” XMP-7300 player is based on IAdea’s flagship digital signage platform and is compliant with WC3 SMIL open standards. It comprises no moving parts, such as cooling fans, making it robust and easy to install in tight spaces. Additionally, the new player delivers 4K capabilities twice as powerful as those of conventional PCs (typically 60 FPS) for video, HTML5 and images.
The Armoroid 4K” XMP-7300 media player is also fully compatible with Signagelive’s newest System on Chip (SoC) software version with web triggering, NFC and Beacon functionality. Digital signage users can therefore incorporate contextual and responsive signage into their marketing campaigns for enhanced engagement and interactivity without needing to purchase any additional equipment.
Using Armoroid 4K” XMP-7300 players powered by Signagelive, digital signage network users can quickly rollout large-scale digital signage networks that support 4K content on already installed infrastructures and 4K display devices. According to Sinagelive, not only does this result in in significant installation CAPEX and OPEX savings, it also ensures that digital signage networks are future-ready as 4K content becomes more prevalent.
Signagelive SoC and HTML5 software provides full support for different content formats including static images, video, HDMI input, IPTV, web pages, RSS feeds and integrates with QR code technology and all common social media widgets to increase engagement and enhance ePoS activities.
“4K and Ultra HD content is becoming increasingly desirable for retail digital signage applications because of the wow-factor effect it has on consumers,” comments Jason Cremins, chief executive of Signagelive. “The Signagelive/IAdea combined offering allows retailers to deliver interactive 4K content on already installed infrastructure for minimal investment and benefit from increased sales as a result.”
“IAdea is excited that Signagelive is bringing its professional digital signage management solution to 4K UHD displays with IAdea’s XMP-7300 media player,” comments John Wang, chief executive of IAdea. “With Signagelive’s extended SMIL support, the joint solution achieves the maximum performance possible from an IAdea device, including support for fluid 60FPS video playback. The result is a platform that meets the most demanding requirements of digital signage projects out there.”
The Armoroid 4K” XMP-7300 player is available to systems integrators and AV vendors globally through IAdea’s network of distribution partners.
